Origin Of Abilities: During her high school years, Maggie missed the bus and had to walk home from school and tried to take a shortcut through the woods back in Ohio. Halfway through the woods, she was spotted by a werehyena and was chased all the way to her back yard where she was bitten. Her father came out with his rifle and fired a couple of shots. The werehyena ran off. Within almost hours after being treated, Maggie's wound on her neck healed abnormally. the scar looked like a bite being taken out of play-doh. After being bullied in school, she felt her body ache all over and she went to the restroom and found herself changing before her very eyes in the mirror. She broke the door down to get out and ran rampant. Her father heard of "the strange beast" and went to kill it so it doesn't harm his daughter again, but when she sees her father, she calms down and changes back. Her mother suggests they take her to the government for a cure. Her father says no, and looked up lycanthropy. If she was a werewolf, she would have transformed during a full moon, but it was broad daylight. So when he found out it's when she's stressed or angered that she changes, he figured self-control was all she needed. He took her to Gotham and checked the backgrounds of each psychiatrist and picked Harley Quinn (before she met the Joker) and Harley agreed to keep the whole thing secret for Maggie's safety. Soon, Harley helped her with various mental exercises within the werehyena form and within her human form, and it turns out she was able to control herself in hyena form. She can speak, walk upright, even dance. The point of the exercises was if she can't control herself as a human any longer, at least she'll be able to control herself as a werehyena. Harley then realized if only she could find all werehyenas to help. Maggie then continued through life with great self-control from graduating high school to finishing a community college and finally became the magazine editor for a local metal magazine in Metropolis. But since that city was famous for trouble, Maggie would occasionally work in the shadows to clean up any trouble. She also found out after she's bitten someone, they didn't transform. At this point in time, she doesn't understand why. In hyena form, she's rather mouthy with almost anyone, but watches herself in front of children and reverts to Serbian swearing. Sometimes she "lets loose" and just races alongside unsuspecting cars and then disappears as a way to exercise herself mentally as a werehyena. She is often seen in different poses at the Metropolis Museum of Natural History next to taxidermy animals as a joke, and when no one's looking, she will change poses or disappear. She likes cocking jokes and challenging the temper of other people should anyone ever meet her in werehyena form.
